Came here 3 times during a 10 day trip to Long Beach 3 weeks ago. I was pining for a pint and this place was the best IMVO. Great service and a good selection of beers/ales. The service was good too, although they didn't understand what tomato sauce was. They call it ketchup over there. Nicely poured pints of Stella Artois and Guinnes and Black, although my gripe was, we had snakebite. Over in England we have blackcurrant cordial with it, and no one had a clue what I was talking about!
and get some 'proper' black pudding for your Irish breakfast, not the processed rubbish.
Can't fault their mushrooms and onion rings in a basket though. I'll be back when I visit Long Beach again!

Am visiting from the UK and was a bit homesick for a good pint and pubby evening. Am staying with friends near this place and having been to several Irish/English-style pubs while visiting the US, thought would give this one a go. I'm quite disappointed I did - primarily because of the food, which was a bit of a joke.
I ordered a basket of chips, which ended up being crinkly fries which were clearly from a frozen package purchased at the supermarket. The other nibbly item I ordered also appeared to be from a package. I realise it's not 5-star dining, but I was at least expecting some effort. I'm pleased I didn't opt to go for one of 'traditional irish' dishes (of which they had very few), as fear my hopes would have been shattered with those as well. My companion had their soup of the day (a green bean and pea soup - not sure where the green beans came in, as tasted like a standard pea soup), which was OK.
The tables were also sticky. The server didn't actually know what 'a pint' was (which is fair enough since they're not called that in this country, but considering they call themselves a pub and the guys sitting opposite us each had a pint of Guinness, one would think they'd get it).
The guy serving us was nice enough and seemed rushed off his feet, so I won’t fault him (although it didn't seem THAT busy).
For a local bar for local people who aren’t fussed about the food or what pubs are like, it’s probably fine. But calling itself a ‘traditional irish pub and restaurant’ is really just taking the mickey...I hate to be cruel, but I felt compelled to say so.

My fiancé and I used to frequent this pub. We haven't have time for a while until 3/21/05. For the first time the service was terrible. The bartender sat at the bar talking about herself and VERY reluctantly came to take our order. She never came over again till the food was brought out. Then she would not come back over and we had to go to the bar to get our checks. Additionally, we had to just stand at the bar (5 other people there all with drinks) until she finished her story about her perfect couch. The worst part is she added extra money on top of the tip & dinner amount that I signed for. The bad service we could have lived with. The blatant, illegal act of cheating a customer is unforgivable.

I was on a roll today. I was at 2 out of 3 closed bars between San Pedro and Long Beach by the time I stopped here. This was my 4th stop.
I came down Ocean Ave. to 2nd Ave. I passed up quite a few better looking Pubs including a B.J.'s Pizza Palor and Brewery to stop here only to be disappointed.
It has a Great selection of Irish Beers, but noting as sepectacular as the Yard House or Red Car Brewery in Torrance.
I tried an appetizer called the New Potato which were mini Potatos dipped in Buffalo Wing sauce. It was pretty good but just another Hot & Spicy Appetizer to get you thirsty to buy more beer.
The regulars were pretty flirty as was the bartender.
I loved the service but hated the crap hanging on the wall atmosphere. I would rather have gone down the block to B.J.', Yard House or Red Rock Corporate Brewery's.
